Steel Core Review. SteelFit is a supplement manufacturer, with the tagline: Skin Fitness + Sports Nutrition.
I didn’t know skin fitness was a thing, but now I know about it, I want it. Having fit skin will make all the difference, I’m damn near sure of it.
Steel Core is a “Physician Formulated Visceral Fat Metabolizer.”
So, it’s a fat-burner made by doctors.
Steel Core is stimulant free, for anyone out there who likes to be in control of their own caffeine intake.
It’s worth noting here that there are 82 reviews of Steel Core on the Steel Fit USA website, and every single one gives the product 5/5 stars. That’s a total of 410 stars.
This. Must. Be. Real.
Steel Core – What Does It Do?
It’s sold as a visceral fat metabolizer but we can call it a fat-burner for the sake of our review. It contains ingredients that are commonly found in fat-burning supplements at any rate.
Steel Core also contains some ingredients your may not have heard much about, one being Sicilian Red Orange Fruit, containing Citrus Sinensis.
Citrus Sinensis, by the way, is the fancy name for an orange. In Steel Core’s recipe it has been included in the patented form, Morosil ™.
Grains of Paradise, aka Aframomum Melegueta, are also present. This ingredient is being researched for its effect on Brown Adipose Tissue (BAT), otherwise known as Brown Fat.
Dihydrocapsiate is probably new to many people, but you can consider it a variant of capsaicin. It’s essentially cayenne pepper’s sister in sweet peppers.
It’s definitely a product that’s been designed to use other fat reducing pathways than the usual central nervous system stimulation. BAT activation is of particular interest at the moment.
Brown Fat is a type of fat we have from birth. It is derived from the same stem cells as muscle tissues, and in some ways shares more of its characteristics.
As infants we have much more of it compared to adults. It produces heat for babies when they are cold. This is known as non-shivering thermogenesis. Babies can’t shiver like adults, can, so at their age BAT is literally a life-saver.
Children and adults can generate heat in many other ways including shivering so we no longer grow brown fat from an early age. It may still be useful for reducing unwanted visceral fat though.
Cold therapy studies have shown that we can activate BAT over prolonged exposure to cold temperatures, and it uses white fat as fuel for its thermogenic reaction. Hence, BAT burns fat.
It has recently been discovered that certain ingredients, including Capsaicin (cayenne), Dihydrocapsiate and of course Grains of Paradise can also activate BAT cells.
Ingredients – What Is In Steel Core?
The following ingredients and inclusion rates are in 3 capsules of Steel Core:
- 750 mg – L-Carnitine Fumarate
- 400 mg – Sicilian Red Orange (Morosil ™)
- 300 mg – KSM-66 Ashwagandha Root
- 300 mg – Alpha Lipoic Acid
- 40 mg – Grains of Paradise (Paradoxine ®)
- 3 mg – Dihydrocapsiate (CapsiAtra ®)
L-Carnitine is known for playing an important role in fat metabolism, and the transportation of fatty acids to the mitochondria for use as fuel.
The Red Orange contains some bioactive compounds including anthocyanins and flavone glycosides that have been shown to exert anti-obesity effects.
Ashwagandha (withania somnifera) is an adaptogen which can reduce stress and anxiety. These emotions can play havoc with your dieting plans and calorie restriction days.
It also appears to cause a trend of weight loss, though statistical significance was not found in the study.
Alpha Lipoic Acid goes well with L-Carnitine for the purpose of increasing the metabolic turnover of fat for the provision of energy.
Grains of Paradise shows a lot of potential for BAT activation and energy expenditure studies have been carried out, with one in particular giving promising results. More studies are of course needed to further clarify this ingredient’s potential.
Dihydrocapsiate, like its cousin compound Capsaicin, can increase thermogenesis. It is likely that BAT is involved with that process as well.
What’s The Verdict?
While it’s an interesting supplement, I can’t support the eighty-two reviewers who give it 5-stars on the Steel Fit USA website.
I do like the Ashwagandha and Paradoxine inclusions. Both are present at decent dosages and should work with one another quite well.
Ashwagandha is an excellent adaptogen and if nothing else will probably help with the stress and irritability of low calorie diets.
As far as stim-free fat burners go, this one is not a complete waste of time, but then I’m someone who uses stimulants in fat burners, because when they are used correctly, at appropriate dosages, there is nothing that can really challenge them.
The BAT activation is worth pursuing for other companies though. There’s evidence to suggest we can grow our BAT stored by activating them more.
It might turn out to be one of the best weapons we have against obesity, and it’s been inside all of us, all along.
